WHY CREATE PRINCIPAL HEALTHCOACH?

We were asked the question, "Why develop a website and membership community dedicated to supporting school leaders?" Our answer is simple....because we believe school leadership is one of the most rewarding yet challenging professions. We believe the things that really matter - the things that really make a difference in schools like building relationships, encouraging risk-taking, reflection, building community and capacity, fostering a lifelong love of learning , and taking care of one's self - are the things that most school leaders longingly wish they had more time to focus on.
There exist so many barriers that prohibit school leaders from focusing on what they inherently know will make a difference in their schools and/or districts. Staff evaluations, parent meetings, student discipline, data, data and more data, staffing issues, PTA, accountability measures, state and federal mandates, and more require a leader's attention-as they should. However, there are days when it seems no matter how many things we cross off "the list" there are ten more "to do" items to add. We hear leaders tell us all the time that,"My plate is too full" and "There's never enough time" or "It's all about the tests these days." Those that are willing to be especially vulnerable go on to say, "I'm just so tired" and "No matter how hard I try I can't seem to get out of my office." These are very real concerns and the reality of what we do each and every day.
Be encouraged! Remember the reasons you CHOSE to enter into the wonderful field of school leadership. Recall the passion you once had and the deep seated belief that YOU could make a difference.
